LIFE UPDATE - December ‘23

I promise I’m not dead.

No Really, like Joaquin Phoenix—I’m Still Here.

It’s just that November and December has royally kicked my ass.

Between the foundation of my living room collapsing into a 4-foot-deep pit encompassing 900 square feet of my house and catching my 6th bout of COVID at my child’s choir recital, I’ve spent the last two months exhausted and mostly bed-ridden.

I’ve pushed myself so hard this year in both my artistic and corporate pursuits and I’ve come out ahead on both counts.

I changed careers in my day job after around 10 years in a single, dying industry. And while I’m at a fantastic company that provides me unbelievable benefits and support—and that has given me a level of work/life balance I’ve never had before—It is still a brutal psychological trip to go from being one of the best in the world in an industry, with a pay check that matched—to starting over as a novice.

It doesn’t help that I feel like my artistic pursuits are exceeding expectations. The better I do off the clock the more being on the clock wears me down. I’ve completed more than a dozen new large scale projects and double that in smaller sculptures and props. I’ve nearly finished writing two new books and countless short stories.

I’ve also continued my love of reading and have finished around 20 novels and non-fiction books this year.

So, without COVID and massive home renovations, I’d probably be run down.

But with my compromised immune system COVID turned into a severe sinus/upperespiratory infection.

So, long story short—too late—Movie Reviews haven’t been a priority for me this month.

I do have a bunch of new movie reviews ready to post, but I’m going to wait.

I’m going to take a brief break for the rest of December, and start strong in the New Year.

I hope anyone reading this has a fantastic winter break, Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa, and whatever other holiday you may celebrate.

And as always, you can message me on Instagram.

Thank you so much for supporting me this year.
